Quotes

A man's work is from sun to sun, but a mother's work is never done.
~Author Unknown

"A mother's love for her child is like nothing else in the world.
It knows no law, no pity, it dares all things and
crushes down remorselessly all that stands in its path."

-- Agatha Christie

"The phrase 'working mother' is redundant."

Jane Sellman

"No other success can compensate for failure in the home."
-David O. McKay

A mother is not a person to lean on but a person to make leaning unnecessary.

-Dorothy Canfield Fisher

If I had my child to raise over again,
I'd finger paint more and point the finger less.
I'd do less correcting and more connecting.
I'd take my eyes off my watch, and watch with my eyes.
I would care to know less and know to care more.
I'd take more hikes and fly more kites.
I'd stop playing serious, and seriously play.
I'd run through more fields and gaze at more stars.
I'd do more hugging and less tugging.
I would be firm less often, and affirm much more.
I'd build self-esteem first, and the house later.
I'd teach less about the love of power, and more
about the power of love.

---Diane Loomans

what you shouldn't have said.

Too often we give children answers to remember
rather than problems to solve.

Roger Lewin

Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all the others.

-Cicero

Never fear spoiling children by making them too happy.
Happiness is the atmosphere in which all good affections grow.

Thomas Bray

“While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about.”

-Anonymous

We are apt to forget
that children watch examples
better than they listen
to preaching.

Roy L. Smith

“Tell me and I'll forget;
show me and I may remember;
involve me and I'll understand.”

Chinese Proverb

“In the early formative years, play is almost synonymous with life. It is second only to being nourished, protected and loved. It is a basic ingredient of physical, intellectual, social and emotional growth.”

Ashley Montague

Cleaning your house while your kids are still growing is like shoveling the walk before it stops snowing. -Phyllis Diller

There is no friendship, no love, like that of the parent for the child.
-- Henry Ward Beecher
